Since its inception in 1945, the Berlin Chamber Orchestra has become one the most prestigious ensembles active today.

Berlin Chamber Orchestra

One of the city’s oldest ensembles, it first captured international attention appearing with Helmut Koch, its first artistic director. Their innovative programming, recognized for traditional "Vienna Classics", expands from the Baroque to the Contemporary period. The ensemble received a high honor, The Goethe Prize, from the city of Berlin.

The orchestra has toured on practically every continent including the United States and has collaborated with some of the world’s most famous artists such as Kurt Masur, Jeffery Tate, Edith Mathis, and Peter Schreier.

Since 1995, violinist Katrin Scholz is the artistic director of the Berlin Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Scholz is one of Germany’s most talented violinists admired for her dazzling technique and consummate musical taste.
