| One of the citys oldest ensembles, it first captured
international attention appearing with Helmut Koch, its first artistic director. Their
innovative programming, recognized for traditional "Vienna Classics", expands
from the Baroque to the Contemporary period. The ensemble received a high honor, The
Goethe Prize, from the city of Berlin. The Orchestra, comprised of the most promising and most carefully selected young German musicians, has been praised for its rich tone and precise articulation. The orchestra has toured on practically every continent including the United States and has collaborated with some of the worlds most famous artists such as Kurt Masur, Jeffery Tate, Edith Mathis, and Peter Schreier. |
| Since 1995, violinist Katrin
Scholz is the artistic director of the Berlin Chamber Orchestra. Ms.
Scholz is one of Germanys most talented violinists admired for her dazzling
technique and consummate musical taste. As a soloist she has performed with the leading orchestras including the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Dresden Philharmonic, and the Symphony Orchestras of Tokyo Metropolitan and Yomiuri Nippon, and appeared in major music centers and festivals in Europe. |
